If you’re anxious to get started with a career or just want to try something out, Louisiana’s high schools offer you lots of options in the form of Career and Technical Education.
Industry Based Certifications
As a high school student, you can choose from dozens of programs and courses that allow you to earn certifications and credits in high-demand, high skilled careers. For example, you can become certified as a Dental Radiologist, Emergency Medical Technician, Adobe Certified Associate or Pharmacy Technician – just to name a few.

Career Diploma Endorsements
Through five Programs of Study, Louisiana offers you more than 125 courses that allow you to pursue a career endorsement. Are you interested in pursuing a career helping in the environment through forestry or conservation? How about exploring the cutting edge of technology through web design? - Agricultural Education
This program includes courses on Agribusiness, Floristry and Landscape Design. For animal lovers, there are classes on small animal care and becoming a veterinary assistant.
- Business and Marketing Education
Students interested in pursuing a career in business will find courses on Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Web Design.
- Family and Consumer Sciences
This program’s course offerings include Childhood Development and Nutrition. It also offers classes on Clothing and Textiles for those interested in fashion.
- Health Occupations
This program offers classes in the high-demand health care industry. Dental Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, and Sports Medicine are among the courses featured here.
- Technology Education
The goal of this program is to introduce students to skills that can lead to trade and industrial education careers. Courses include Basic Electricity Electronics, Power Mechanics, and Welding Technology.
